The Printery House Affiliate Fundraiser Program

Here are step by step instructions about how to implement the Affiliate Link on your website:

1. Before beginning, you need to have been assigned a special Keycode (formerly called Source Code or Promo Code) by The Printery House. This code is the letters "AF" followed by a 4-digit number. If you do not have this code, contact affiliates@printeryhouse.org by email or call Br. David Wilding at (660) 944-3020 to request your code.

2. The Affiliate Link consists of a simple HTML <A> tag surrounding an <IMG> tag. The <IMG> tag will reference your choice of the banner images on this page, and the <A> tag will cause whoever clicks on the image to be sent to the Printery House website with your special Keycode.

3. Decide which of your website pages will contain the Affiliate Link. Clearly, you will want to place the link where it is easy to find by visitors to your site. Also decide where in the folder structure of your site to place the link's image file. You may have a special images folder for such things, or you may just want to place it in the same folder as the page containing the Affiliate Link (recommended).

4. If you were emailed the HTML code for your link, use the copy and paste capability on your computer to move the code from the email message to the desired location on your web page. Move the image file attached to that same email message to the desired image folder location on your website. Then skip ahead to step 11.

5. Enter the following HTML text into the desired location on your website page. The easiest way to do this is to copy and paste:

6. Edit the keycode in the link by changing the "9999" above to the four digits of your own special keycode. For example, if your code is "AF9876", your href attribute would read:

href="http://www.printeryhouse.org/?promocode=AF9876"

7. If you use the banner image for churches, the filename in the img tag is correct. If you use the banner image for schools, change the filename to:

8. If your banner image is in a folder other than the one containing your web page, edit the src attribute within the <img> tag to show the correct path. For example, if you place the images in a subfolder named "images" under the folder containing the link page, your src attribute would read:

src="images/PHAffilBanCh.gif"

9. If you want the Printery House website to open in a new browser window rather than replacing your own page, add this attribute to the <A> tag:

target="_blank"

10. If your site uses frames, you should also add a "target" attribute to the link tag so that the Printery House site does not open in a frame on your site, thereby confusing the viewer. Use either:

target="_blank" or target="_top"

The choice of "_top" opens the Printery site in the same browser window, replacing your site. The choice of "_blank" keeps your window and opens a second one.

11. Choose the best image for your site from the selections below. Right click on your choice and select "Save Picture As...". Choose the proper location on your system in the Save Picture dialog box and click "Save".

12. You may want to add text near the Affiliate Link banner image on your page that helps to explain the program and what one of your contributors should do. Feel free to use any of the information from our website, especially the suggested bulletin or newsletter insertion text.

13. After double-checking that the HTML code is what you want on your web page and that the banner image is in the correct location, upload the changes to your web hosting server via the usual means.

14. Test the link by opening your website's page in a browser and clicking the Affiliate Link. You should see the Printery House website opening page. Your keycode should be at the end of the URL shown in the address bar at the top of the browser window.
