Deb Parsons Menke, Artist and Calligrapher

Photo of Deb Menke

Biographical Information

Deb Parsons Menke has been pursuing art in its myriad of forms since childhood. After graduating with a BA in Graphic Design she worked in the advertising industry as a production artist, account executive and art director. She later moved on to freelance work producing logos, brochures and posters. Deb has been concentrating on her fine art, calligraphy and commissioned broadsides for the last 15 years including large calligraphic murals in area churches. Deb's work has been published in various magazines, calendars and greeting cards as well as exhibited in regional galleries and the Smithsonian Postal Museum.

Deb believes that the scriptures of God are alive and sharper than any two edged sword, and that 'religious art' should not be something thought of as significant only in the distant past, but as something we need to see and experience now, in a modern context.

Born and raised in Montana, Deb currently lives in Missoula with her husband Mark, their three teenagers and three dogs. In her 'spare time' she volunteers with several non-profits involving youth, her church, and her state and local calligraphy guilds; Big Sky Scribes and the Missoula Calligraphy Guild.
