| Biographical Information Sally lives in the West, dwarfed by mountains and the endless sky, continually surrounded by beauty that finds its way onto her canvas. She has freelanced in calligraphy and illustration since 1981, serving both private and corporate clients, each one different, each one fascinating. As a calligrapher, she appreciates the power in the artfully written word, how it enters the reader’s mind, then speaks within the heart. Traditional forms are the foundation for Sally’s lettering, giving her modern scripts new strength and integrity. As a painter, Sally enjoys the thrill and terror of exhibiting her watercolors, and seeing them through the eyes of others. Teaching has always been an important part of Sally’s artistic life. In teaching calligraphy to adults she is inspired and challenged by her students. Teaching elementary school art expands her horizons and demands experimentation with unfamiliar media. And teaching English, an art in itself, has taken her to China and Peru. Sally also sings and writes music, and is the only ‘gringa’ in a Mexican band at her church. She regularly takes her guitar into the prisons near her Idaho home. Through music she has come to understand that her visual art, though done in the privacy of her own studio is also a performing art, a duet of light and color to reveal her soul to the audience who will take the time to see. At the center of Sally’s life are her family and her faith, both the object of her creative fire and its source.
