Biographical Information:

I think my fascination with letters and design started in my first years at Waldorf School in Detroit. We were often asked to decorate the tops of our work pages with a “form design.” Our teacher would create a small segment of design and we were to repeat this segment all the way across the page. These were meant to prepare us for cursive writing. My “regular” cursive writing is probably not a good example of what they meant to accomplish but I know that the calligraphic seeds were planted in these wonderful crayoned and penciled loops and curves that danced across so many of my school papers.

When my husband and I moved to the Pittsburgh area I was lucky enough to meet Myrna Rosen who has been a wonderful mentor and friend. She encouraged me to join the Calligraphy Guild of Pittsburgh where I have been a member since 1989. I enjoy taking workshops that the guild offers, especially those by the many well known calligraphers who join us from around the country (and world!).
