About our Artists |
| Who creates our art and texts? |
Over the many decades the Printery House has been in operation we have had some artist monks, but most of our designs come from free lance artists and writers. We buy a license to reproduce art and texts from these individuals, who retain the copyright in their own behalf. We tend to develop a relationship with our artists over a period of time as we come to understand their capabilities and they come to understand our needs. We are always willing and eager to begin this process with new artists. Our art is very important to the continued success of the Printery House, not only by helping us to retain customer interest through new products, but also by helping us to spread the Good News of God's love through the printed word and quality Christian art. |
| Some of our artists | These artists have allowed us to share a bit of biographical information with you on our web site: Gail Vick Barnhardt, Calligrapher and Artist Dennis Bell, Iconographer Richard Carbajal, Artist Mary Newell DePalma, artist Jean Formo, Calligrapher and Artist Scott Freeman, Artist Irina Lombardo, Artist Br. Pachomius Meade, O.S.B., Iconographer and Illustrator |
| Information for prospective artists | The best way to become familiar with the kind of art we purchase is to study our catalog. The designs of our cards are not fixed to any particular time or style, although we have a bias toward art rather than photography, calligraphy rather than type, and art that appeals to the heart without becoming maudlin. Our artists work in virtually every medium. Watch this space for more extensive guidelines to be published. |
