Inside right: Sending prayers that God’s greatest Gift of Love will remain in your heart all year long. Inside left: St. Francis of Assisi popularized the tradition of the crèche–the portrayal of Mary, Joseph and Jesus in a stable surrounded by shepherds, angels and animals. St. Francis wanted to help ordinary Christians appreciate the true meaning of the Savior’s birth. The crèche serves as a reminder of the poverty, simplicity and humility that marks the birth of God as a human being.
