This graceful image of our Blessed Mother is accompanied by the foremost prayer of devotion to Mary.
Commissioned by a monk of Conception Abbey more than a century ago, the original painting of the image of Mary inset in this print was executed by Max Schmalzl, a famous 19th century religious artist from Bavaria. Schmalzl’s paintings and designs still grace many European churches. This portrait presents Mary haloed by the opening words of the Magnificat, her beautiful song of praise from Luke chapter one. Mary is not only the Mother of Jesus, but also His first and most perfect follower. "Let it be with me according to your word" was Mary’s great act of faith in God.
