Inside Left: The Legend of the Christmas Tree The story of the Christmas tree begins in the Garden of Eden, where the tree of life grew rich with flowers and fruit. But, when Adam and Eve disobeyed God’s command by eating the fruit of the tree, it turned prickly with needles and dry cones. Then on the night of Christ's birth, the tree bloomed once again in all its splendor. Today the Christmas tree, decorated with lights and ornaments, is a reminder of that Tree of Paradise and a symbol of the wood of the Cross through which Christ, obedient to the Father’s will, won eternal life for us all.
