Inside Left:Legend of the Christmas Rose While tending her sheep, a poor shepherd girl encountered the three magi. When she heard of their search for the Newborn King, she too, wanted to pay him homage. Seeing their magnificent gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh, she wept because she had no gift worthy of the Christ Child. As her tears fell upon the snow, beautiful little white roses touched with pink appeared. She picked the lovely flowers and presented them to the Baby Jesus—a gift from a pure heart, more precious than the kings’ treasures. This Helleborus niger, a perennial herb, is often referred to as the Christmas rose because it pushes up and blossoms through the winter snow. Inside Right: From a Rose so pure was born a Love so perfect. Praying that all the blessings of Christmas blossom for you throughout the new year.
