But my servant Caleb, because he has a different spirit and has followed me wholeheartedly, I will bring into the land into which he went, and his descendants shall possess it.
Watercolor image of Caleb speaking with Moses
Caleb was an example of faithfulness, endurance, and trusting fully in God. The Israelites had to defeat their enemies before entering the Promised Land, so Moses sent 12 spies there. Ten reported the land was inhabited by undefeatable giants. But two spies, Joshua and Caleb, argued that because God was with them, they could conquer these enemies. The Israelites focused on fear instead of faith in God, so God ordered them to wander in the wilderness until that generation of adults had died. Rewarded for their faithfulness, Joshua and Caleb eventually entered the Promised Land.
