Rev. Jack Shrum, a native of Billings, Montana, has lived in the Seattle area since 1988. He studied theology for seven years at Mount Angel Seminary, where he also had the opportunity to study iconography under Br. Claude Lane, O.S.B., a monk of Mount Angel Abbey. Fr. Jack had no prior training or experience in art before working with Br. Claude. He is grateful to God for the gifts he has received, the greatest of which is being able to share the beauty of God with others. Ordained to the priesthood for the Archdiocese of Seattle in June of 2008, Fr. Jack hopes to continue to write icons, a discipline that for him is relaxing, rewarding, and spiritually edifying.
